Introduction

 

「Hola Mexico!」 Mexican classic and modern children book fair and cultural exchange was held at National Taiwan Library on 1^st August. The exhibition is hosted by National Taiwan Library in collaboration with the Mexican Trade Service Documentation and Cultural Office. It aims to promote Mexican culture through books and imagery, and to enhance cultural exchange between Taiwan and Mexico, a country recognized worldwide not only for its vibrant heritage but also as a top travel destination. Through this exhibition, readers are invited to experience the soul, passion and creativity of Mexico as reflected in children’s literature and book art.

Imagination Cross Over Generation: Memory of Mexico Culture and Classics

 

The display of Mexican classics reflects the cultural inheritance and historical richness of Mexico. It describes the role of music and the symbolism of the panther onca in literature, offering readers insight into Mexican humanity, history and arts by reading and appreciation.

Lights of Literature: Depth and Soul of Mexican Literature

 

This section highlights the contributions of iconic Mexican literary figures such as Juan José Arreola, Alfonso Reyes, and Margo Glantz. It focuses on the literary strategies used by writers to explore human nature, social norms and the history of Mexico. This segment also shows the influence of author-illustrator collaborations in enriching Mexican literature and demonstrating its unique charm.

The space of books and arts: Best of Petra Ediciones

 

Petra Ediciones is a publishing company established by famous Mexican editor and designer Peggy Espinosa. The books on display represent a fusion of book design and visual art, including picture books, interactive books and multimedia books. The presentation of books breaks traditional boundaries, highlighting the creativity and diversity of Mexican book publishing.

About Peggy Espinosa

 

Peggy Espinosa, the founder of Petra Ediciones. She is a Mexican editor and designer. She was invited to share her vision of producing a book and introduce the book from Petra Ediciones. In her works, book is more than just a reading object, it can become a theater, a piece of art, or an experience that enhances reading. Peggy collaborated with an American photographer, their joint work reflects the everyday life of Mexicans, making books as a medium for readers to explore Mexican lifestyle and culture.
